[Philippe Johnston](https://www.linkedin.com/in/philippe-johnston/) has joined ADAMnetworks as Field CIO and Strategic Advisor. He will work closely with our executive team to shape our global strategy, strengthen relationships with government and enterprise leaders, and provide strategic direction across AI cybersecurity, digital transformation and innovation initiatives. The appointment supports our expansion into enterprise, government and global cybersecurity markets.

## His background

Over a career spanning multiple decades, Johnston has held senior executive roles as Chief Information Officer (CIO) and Chief Technology Officer (CTO) across numerous Canadian federal government departments and agencies. He has led national-scale transformation programs, modernized critical IT infrastructure, strengthened cyber resilience strategies and supported digital operations that affect millions of Canadians and critical government services.

He served as President of the [CIO Association of Canada (CIOCAN)](https://www.ciocan.ca/) and received its Lifetime Achievement Award. In 2022, IT World Magazine named him one of Canada’s Top Tech Influencers.

“Philippe brings a unique combination of executive leadership, cybersecurity expertise, and trusted relationships across both government and industry,” said David Redekop, CEO and Founder of ADAMnetworks. “As organizations globalize their search for defenses against AI-orchestrated threats and Zero Day attacks (such as what is embodied in the industry by Mythos), Philippe’s influence will accelerate our growth and help secure mission-critical operations and infrastructure worldwide.”

## Why prevention, and why now

AI-orchestrated attacks move at machine speed. CrowdStrike’s [2025 State of Ransomware Survey](https://www.crowdstrike.com/en-us/press-releases/ransomware-report-ai-attacks-outpacing-defenses/) found that 76% of organizations struggle to match the speed and sophistication of AI-powered attacks, that 85% of respondents believe traditional detection is becoming obsolete against AI-enhanced threats, and that 48% cite AI-automated attack chains as the greatest ransomware risk. Anthropic’s red team found defense evasion in the behaviour of 84.4% of the malicious AI actors it studied, the largest tactic category; Steve Gibson covered the finding on [Security Now Episode 1082](https://www.grc.com/sn/sn-1082-notes.pdf).

A defense that waits for detection reacts after initial access. Our agentless Zero Trust Connectivity platform enforces default-deny connectivity instead, blocking malicious communications before first contact and preventing unauthorized data exfiltration and lateral movement, even when the specific threat has never been seen before. [How adam:ONE works](https://adamnet.works/how-it-works.md) explains the mechanism.

“Cybersecurity can no longer be reactive. Organizations must adopt prevention and containment strategies that stop attacks before they become crises. ADAMnetworks offers a fundamentally different approach that reduces attack surfaces and prevents malicious communications. These are the tools I wish I had in the field, and we are now making them available to CIOs facing the unprecedented challenges of the AI era,” said Johnston.

Johnston has spent his career in government environments, where procurement cycles are long, risk tolerance is low and the consequences of failure are high. He will help us turn preemptive technology into practical outcomes for public-sector and enterprise clients.

Canada’s [AI Strategy for the Federal Public Service 2025-2027](https://www.canada.ca/en/government/system/digital-government/digital-government-innovations/responsible-use-ai/gc-ai-strategy-overview.html) calls for secure, responsible and accelerated use of AI across government operations, while Shared Services Canada and other central agencies are moving cyber security services toward zero-trust frameworks. In the United States, the [Executive Order on Promoting Advanced Artificial Intelligence Innovation and Security](https://www.whitehouse.gov/presidential-actions/2026/06/promoting-advanced-artificial-intelligence-innovation-and-security/) was released on June 2, 2026.
